How to Script a Black Friday Video Ad Without Shouting
Black Friday video ads blur into one loud countdown. How to script a short sale video that states the offer clearly, shows the product and earns trust, with 15 and 30-second examples.
In this guide
Black Friday falls on 27 November in 2026, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. For a week or two, every feed is full of loud sale videos: flashing text, countdown timers, "you will not believe these prices". Viewers have learned to scroll past them. A calm, clear video from a real person often stands out more than one more explosion of graphics.
Say the offer first
The offer is the hook. Put it in the first five seconds, in plain words:
"Everything in the shop is 25 percent off from Friday to Monday."
Then show why it is worth having.
A 15-second structure
- Offer (3 to 5 seconds).
- One product shown in use (5 to 7 seconds).
- When it ends and where to buy (3 to 5 seconds).
"Twenty-five percent off everything this weekend. This is our best-selling wool throw, the one that sells out every December. The sale ends Monday at midnight. Link in our profile."
A 30-second structure
- Offer.
- Who it is for. One line.
- Two products, shown, with one reason each.
- End date and call to action.
At around 70 to 80 words, a 30-second script is short. See how to write a 30-second video script for word counts.
Be honest about urgency
If the sale ends Monday, say so once. Do not invent scarcity, reset countdown timers or claim "last chance" three times. Consumer protection rules apply to advertising, and false urgency costs trust you will need in January.
Show the product in real life
A product being used in a real home, workshop or studio is more persuasive than a rendered graphic. If you are the maker or owner, appear on camera: viewers like buying from people. For honest delivery, see how to sound warm, not salesy, on camera.
Make captions do half the work
Many viewers watch sale ads without sound. Put the offer and the end date in on-screen text too. See captions for talking videos.
Record a few versions
Record the same script with two or three different products, so you can rotate ads through the weekend and see which performs. With the script in a phone prompter near the lens, each version takes a couple of minutes. Keep the offer line identical in every version so the message stays consistent.
Thank buyers afterwards
After the sale, a short thank-you video to customers is a nice touch and costs nothing. Our holiday video message scripts can be adapted.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a Black Friday video ad be?
Fifteen to 30 seconds. State the offer in the first five seconds.
Should I use countdown timers and urgency?
Only real deadlines. Say the end date plainly once. Fake urgency damages trust and can breach consumer rules.
Can I record a Black Friday ad on my phone?
Yes. Many effective sale videos are simply the owner showing the product and stating the offer clearly.
